If your summer calendar is looking a little empty, the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts is making sure there is no excuse to stay home. From drag, dance, gospel and flamenco to Broadway favorites, comedy and wellness-centered experiences, the downtown Miami arts hub is packing the season with performances that feel equal parts celebration, culture and community.
June kicks off with one of Miami’s most joyful Pride traditions: CommuniTea Dance. Returning for its ninth year, the free event transforms the Arsht into a high-energy LGBTQIA+ celebration filled with performances, music, vendors and community connection. Hosted by FayWhat and headlined by Alyssa Edwards, expect drag performances, dancing and the kind of atmosphere that turns a Sunday afternoon into an unforgettable Pride moment.
For theater lovers, June also brings the wildly irreverent The Book of Mormon to Miami. Whether you have somehow never seen it or are ready for a repeat laugh-filled night, the Tony-winning musical remains one of Broadway’s sharpest and funniest productions, blending outrageous comedy with unexpectedly catchy songs.
Dance fans have plenty to celebrate too. Flamenco takes center stage through intimate performances from the Siudy Flamenco Company, including The Creative Process: Flamenco Beyond Tradition, which offers a behind-the-scenes look at movement, collaboration and artistic experimentation, and Captura y Fuga, where dancer José Manuel Álvarez reimagines iconic flamenco photography through movement and digital art.
Music lovers can close out June on a powerful note with Gospel Fest Miami, featuring Grammy-winning singer Jekalyn Carr and acclaimed worship artist Todd Dulaney. Beyond the concerts, pre-show discussions explore gospel’s evolution, healing qualities and cultural impact, making the experience feel deeper than a standard performance.
Then comes a nostalgic, rhythm-filled celebration honoring the legacy of Sergio Mendes. Led by longtime collaborator and wife Gracinha Leporace, the Sergio Mendes Band celebrates 60 years of Brasil ’66 with the bossa nova and samba-infused sounds that helped define Brazilian music for generations.
July leans theatrical and immersive. Award-winning illusionist Dennis Watkins brings The Magic Parlour to Miami for an intimate sleight-of-hand experience designed to feel personal, surprising and interactive, while comedy fans can expect a night of nonstop laughs from Max Amini. Meanwhile, flamenco returns with Siempre Flamenco’s 20th annual festival, spotlighting celebrated performers from Spain in a rare Miami showcase.
Families and arts supporters may want to circle the free AileyCamp Miami finale, where middle school students trained through the summer scholarship program showcase ballet, jazz, spoken word and modern dance in a culminating performance that highlights creativity and confidence-building through the arts.
August shifts toward wellness with Art & Mind Day, a free event centered around creativity, mindfulness and joy through workshops, poetry, music and immersive arts experiences. It feels like the kind of reset button many of us need before the chaos of fall begins.
And if you are already planning ahead? September brings the South Florida premiere of the Tony- and Grammy-winning Buena Vista Social Club, a music-filled journey into memory, Cuba and the timeless sounds that continue to resonate across generations.
At a time when Miami’s arts scene continues to evolve, the Arsht’s upcoming lineup feels refreshingly broad: joyful Pride celebrations, Broadway spectacle, soulful music, immersive dance and experiences built around community and connection, all in one place.
