OUTShine LGBTQ+ Film Festival unveils its full film lineup for this year’s Fall Edition running Oct. 15 – 25 in South Florida.
This edition brings more than 20 new international, North American, East Coast and Florida premieres from 20 countries to Broward and Miami-Dade counties. The festivities kick off on Oct. 15, with a screening of the award-winning historical drama “La Bola Negra” at Regal Dania Pointe. It weaves a tale of three gay men living across three generations who find their lives linked by love, loss, and an unfinished work by Federico García Lorca. It stars Guitarricadelafuente, Miguel Bernardeau, Carlos González, Milo Quifes, Lola Dueñas, Julio Torres, Penélope Cruz, and Glenn Close.
The centerpiece of the festival is the Florida premiere of the folk horror story “No Rest for the Wicked,” at Savor Cinema on Oct. 21, at 7:30 p.m. A forbidden romance takes a dark turn into tragedy when a vampire’s curse threatens to separate them forever. This haunting film will be followed by a spirited Halloween afterparty. For the full schedule and ticket info, go to OutshineFilm.com.
Maltz Master Class Series, a free, hour-long program of talks on Saturdays with Andrew Kato, Producing Artistic Director, throughout the season will offer an in-depth look into Maltz’s offerings this season. The series starts on Dec. 5, with “Swing, Satire, and Survival: The World Behind ‘Ain’t Misbehavin’.” Other presentations in the series focus on scenery and the automation that makes it work, the dance of “La Cage aux Folles,” and a look inside the production center of the theater. Broward Center’s Broadway in Fort Lauderdale series will present the Tony Award-winning musical comedy, “Death Becomes Her,” Dec. 15-27. Tickets start at $55 and are available at BrowardCenter.org.
