South Florida drag queen Athena Dion uses her platform to lift others in the community up.
“I feel the best way to use my platform is to remain visible and remain an example for our community, to be a representative and a teacher to those that have yet to learn about us,” Dion said. “I have scouted and nurtured a troupe of fabulous queens locally, many of which are part of my drag family.”
Dion’s history as a performer is nothing to shrug at. She has performed professionally in South Florida and around the world for 15 years, and has produced iconic shows like at R House Wynwood. Dion has also worked with local LGBTQ organizations to help “safeguard our rights.”
“I love to share the stage with talented entertainers, and I love that I am able to give back to my community through my arts and my talents,” Dion said.
