Nancy Muller has barely been able to set her desk chair to her favorite settings before deciding to move on. Wilton Manors’ finance director was appointed to the job in late February.
The reason for her swift departure is unclear, though there does not appear to be any issue or accusations of wrongdoing. City Manager Leigh Ann Henderson reiterates Muller has no connection to the Broward Inspector General report that showed poor oversight of parking funds. That responsibility lies with her two immediate predecessors, who were found to have had poor accountability for about $108,000 and a vehicle.
“Nancy is a very talented finance professional, and we were fortunate to have her work with us for the time she did,” Henderson said.
She was not given any moving expenses or signing bonuses. Muller will leave at the end of July and is working on the new budget that starts Oct. 1. She has completed most of the budget and amendments, and Henderson says city staff will shepherd the budget from here.
Muller was most recently working as finance director for Severance, Colo., a city with roughly the same population as Wilton Manors. She replaced Pennie Zuercher, who retired in November and moved to France.
