New Charging Stations In Wilton Manors | WATCH

The atmosphere is electric around city hall, specifically in the parking lot. Wilton Manors debuted ten new charging stations for electric cars. They sit in the back corner of the parking lot at city hall.

“We’re looking forward to the future,” Mayor Scott Newton said during the dedication ceremony. “This changes the way we’re looking at Wilton Manors. It’s about fresh air, clean air. This is where it starts.”

With ten spots, EVgo says this is the largest charging area they have in Florida. They accommodate all electric vehicles on the market except for Tesla.

Human Resources Director Dio Sanchez spearheaded the initiative, which included EVgo, FPL, and the city commission signing off.

These stations are much faster than the old charging station at the front of the city hall lot. Those spaces will eventually transition back into standard parking spots.

People charging their car will not need to pay additional parking fees. However you can’t leave your car there for hours on end or overnight. While there will be a grace period during the rollout, eventually traffic enforcement will start ticketing charged cars after a couple of hours.
