Telling people you’re “hanging out in Wilton Manors” is often shorthand for letting people know you are, or support, LGBTQ. Holy Cross Health has been proudly hanging out in Wilton Manors for 25 years and threw a party to celebrate.

They kicked off Pride Month a day early, throwing a brunch at Hunters in Wilton Manors.

“We’re here to serve not just in Pride, but every day,” Kim Saiswick, Holy Cross’s Vice President of Community Health and Well Being, said.

Holy Cross established a clinic in the city back in 2000, a much different time for the LGBTQ community. Although the tide had started to turn, HIV/AIDS still had a very high mortality rate in America. As a burgeoning LGBTQ hotspot, Saiswick says Holy Cross stepped in to do what it does best.

“We’re patient-centered, and we want to meet people where they are. Holy Cross is meant to serve any of the vulnerable populations. Holy Cross has been in this community 25 years. We’re celebrating primary care to some of the folks who have the least access.”

The Greek-themed party, “Opa!,” featured a buffet of lamb and other Mediterranean favorites. After an hour of eating and drinking, the show began.

Broadway star Nick Adams was there, dressed in a light, white outfit as though he had just arrived from Mykonos. Besides showing off his incredible voice, Adams also shared stories, including how Wizard of Oz & Liza Minnelli are a throughline in his life.

Three others took the stage as well. Nicole Henry crooned in a gown as smooth and gorgeous as her voice. Local artist and producer Matthew Darren had Disney fans swaying, and Eytan Deray proved he was born to sing show tunes.

All four were accompanied by Emmy and Grammy winning artist John McDaniel, who serves as Musical Director for HarmonyWaves, which produced the event.

A 26th anniversary party is already being planned, but they’re being tight-lipped about next year’s theme.
