They can climb, they can swing, they can slide. The kids of Wilton Manors once again have their own spot at Hagen Park.
City Commissioner Paul Rolli cut the green ribbon at 10 a.m. May 31. Moments later, kids blew past him while parents and guardians tried to keep up.
The equipment is colorful and durable, built to last a withering summer sun and the wind and rain that comes with named storms.
“We’re happy to have a brand-new playground here for the kids in Wilton Manors,” Rolli said. “We really appreciate the work of the city commission, the city staff and in particular Leisure Services getting this job done.”
The cost was about $250,000 including demolition of the old playground, new equipment, and turf surfacing.
This has been a long time coming. The previous playground was closed during the pandemic and then was deemed unfit to reopen.
