The Delray Beach Playhouse opens its season with “She Loves Me,” Nov. 24 – Dec. 10, Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick’s musical comedy about romance in a 1930s European perfumery, followed by “Ann Talman: Elizabeth Taylor and the Shadow of her Smile,” Dec. 11 – 14, a one-woman show exploring the actresses on- and off-stage triumphs and challenges.
Based on the beloved characters of Sholem Aleichem, actor/playwright Tom Dugan’s (Wiesenthal) newest play, “Tevye in New York!,” Dec. 21 – Jan. 7, asks what happened to Tevye, his wife Golde and daughters after the curtain came down on “Fiddler on the Roof.”
Broadway legend Tovah Feldshuh takes the stage next in her one-woman show, “Aging is Optional (cause G…d, I hope it is!),” Jan. 8 – 10. As she puts it, “Some people call them decades, I call them my collected works. It’s an hour of Restylane for the soul, a booster for the heart, and a probiotic of laughter…and exercise!”
In “Grumpy Old Men,” the musical by Neil Berg, Nick Meglin and Dan Remmes, Feb. 2 – 25, neighbors Max and John face-off as romantic rivals for a new tenant, until their hilarious shenanigans finally bring about a resolution to their 50-year feud.
Sondheim’s “Merrily We Roll Along,” March 22 – April 7, begins in the present and moves backwards, tracing the lives of wealthy, jaded composer Franklin Shepard and his two estranged friends through each milestone of their personal and professional lives (good and bad).
Happy Trails Senior Resort Living in Surprise, AZ is where the ladies of the Happy Trails Baking Club meet weekly, swapping desserts and recipes in “The Lost Virginity Tour,” May 3 – 19. But when four friends start swapping stories about their “first times,” one of them bakes up an idea – to take a road trip across the country, revisiting each location where they lost their virginities.
