The 5th Annual Pride 5K at Nancy M. Graham Centennial Square on June 21 offers a vibrant blend of movement, community and celebration. Hosted by Night Runners West Palm Beach, the event promises to be the club’s biggest race yet, with more than 40 vendors, food trucks, and $2,000 in cash prizes on the line.
The evening kicks off with a Pride Showcase from 5 to 8 p.m., featuring local businesses, wellness booths, giveaways, and community organizations. The 5K itself begins at 6:30 p.m., and participants of all experience levels are welcome.
“We’ve had so many people start as walkers who later become runners,” said Night Runners president Ryan Thompson. “Our mission is to enthusiastically promote health, diversity and camaraderie through physical activity.”
Top male, female, nonbinary, and grandmaster (50+) will each take home $500. But this isn’t just a competition; there will also be age category medals and randomized prizes, meaning anyone could walk away a winner, regardless of pace.
Night Runners launched the first Pride 5K in 2020 as a virtual race during the pandemic. Since then, the event has grown into a West Palm Beach tradition. Each year, proceeds support a local nonprofit. This year’s beneficiary is PRISM, a youth-led LGBTQ+ organization that promotes sexual education and advocacy for South Florida youth.
“We always pick an organization that resonates with our mission statement,” Thompson said.
