Hello Owls!
I'm thrilled to introduce myself to you all as OutFAU's new Executive Editor.
My name is Christian Joseph Walden—though feel free to call me CJ—and I’m honored to take on this role, building on the incredible foundation laid by my friend and predecessor, Mary, as she spreads her wings to graduate and take flight.
Working with Mary and our Publisher, Jason, has been a fantastic experience, and I’m deeply committed to ensuring OutFAU continues as a vibrant and essential voice on campus.
A little about me: I'm a 20-year-old gay cisgender man born on June 9th (yes, I’m a Gemini, but don't worry—I promise I don't bite!). I'm majoring in Multimedia Journalism with minors in Nonprofit Management and Gender, Women, & Sexuality Studies, reflecting my passion for storytelling, community service, and advocacy. You might recognize me from my drag persona, Empress Walsh—I love the freedom and self-expression that drag brings, and I’m proud to have found a welcoming home for my creativity and activism here at FAU.
OutFAU was launched as a response to the rising attempts to silence and erase LGBTQ+ voices and our history. We exist to celebrate, uplift, and stand firm against those who want to overlook our community and its contributions. In every article, story, and event we cover, we aim to empower LGBTQ+ students and allies, creating a space where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued. OutFAU is here to be a voice for the LGBTQ+ community on campus, and I’m committed to amplifying that voice every day.
As Executive Editor, I look forward to working with our talented team to share the stories that matter to you. Our doors are always open to new voices, ideas, and perspectives—so if you're interested in getting involved, we’d love to have you!
