Beset by scandals and allegations of misconduct, Fabian Basabe successfully defended his Florida House seat.

Basabe, 46, the former New York City socialite and reality television actor, defeated Joe Saunders in the race to represent District 106 in Tallahassee.

In unofficial results with all 47 precincts reported, Basabe had 38,224 (51%) to 35,002 (47%) for Saunders.

Mo Saunders, the estranged aunt of Joe Saunders, got 1,263 votes (1.7%) with no party affiliation.

Saunders, 41, an out gay man and former state representative, had sought to flip the seat back to Democrats by highlighting Basabe’s support for many of Gov. Ron DeSantis’ policies.

In 2022, Basabe flipped the historically Democratic district, which covers Miami Beach and other coastal cities. He has denied claims by former aides of sexual harassment and assault.
