The bears are coming. They’re coming to Wilton Drive. They’re coming to the ocean. They’re coming to the beach. They are coming to party.
Lauderdale Tropical Bear Week is a six-day fest featuring four pool parties, three dance parties, a VIP cruise, a camo beach party, and Bear Cabaret.
Headlining the party will be Ultra Nate, while drag entertainer Meatball will also make an appearance. Eagle co-owner Chuck King is especially excited to welcome the viral legend.
“I’m sure her vicious little mouth will spread lots of love.”
Each iteration of the annual Tropical Bear Week tries to outdo the others. Topping last year’s party will be difficult but the lineup of events makes it poised to do so.
The party kicks off April 8 and runs through April 13. While some events have the same title or venue, such as the Bear Cruise and Bear Village, the experience is going next level.
The VIP cruise is a chartered Water Taxi starting at the Riverside Hotel at 2 p.m. on April 9. King says last year’s sailing was more “informational” and this year will be more fun.
Bear Village will have the aforementioned Meatball and Ultra Nate, as well as the incredibly sexy Brian Justin Crum performing. King says thousands of Bears and their fans will converge on Wilton Manors and Fort Lauderdale. The parties are spread across 13 venues, with Eagle being ground zero, hosting events Thursday and Saturday nights.
The party is fun, but visibility is important. At a time when LGBTQ is under attack, King says it’s crucial that the world sees us.
“Especially in this day and age, when there’s so much uncertainty because of the crazy news that we wake up to on a daily basis, we really need to celebrate us. We need to stick together and be informed and fight.”
Single-event tickets start as low as $10. The General Admission package starts at $119 while the VIP package is $319.
