Eagle Wilton Manors Takes a Stand Against Fentanyl With Free Naloxone | WATCH

As fentanyl-induced overdoses continue to plague nightclubs, one group is stepping in and providing a crucial first response. Eagle is working with The Robin Foundation and keeping Naloxone available for everyone including patrons.

Naloxone, the generic equivalent of Narcan, works to reverse the effects of fentanyl, which is often used to cut other drugs. People don’t know they’re taking the powerful anesthetic and pain reliever and easily overdose.

“At Eagle Wilton Manors, we believe every life has value. Fentanyl has touched every community — including ours — and having Narcan accessible could mean the difference between life and death,” Eagle owner Chuck King said.

At Eagle, the medicine is just past the front door next to the ATM on the left. The unlocked container looks like the newspaper boxes where you’d find OutSFL.

Experts say it can be administered even if you’re not sure the person is having an overdose as it can’t do more harm. If the person isn’t responding, a second dose can be applied after two minutes.

The Robin Foundation was created by Chris Cavallo, who lost both his wife and daughter to substance issues. His wife, Robin, got addicted after surgery and was in recovery for 17 years while his daughter became addicted and was found in a hotel room.

The Robin Foundation, which he runs with his daughter Chrissy, recently installed 49 dispensing sites in Hollywood and is working with Pompano Beach to get them in the city’s parks.

“We’re proud to partner with this organization to bring harm reduction resources directly to our guests,” Eagle’s King said. “No one should lose their life to an overdose, and we’re committed to making sure that doesn’t happen on our watch.”
