Mother’s Day Dining Options

No two mothers are alike, so why do we assume all mothers want to be taken to a massive all-you-can-eat buffet?

Some may prefer a more intimate affair, perhaps cocktails on a rooftop terrace before ziplining across the city, then landing on a patio for canapes and champagne with George Clooney (that’s the kind of mother I’d be, maybe without the ziplining!). Here are several options for Mom to celebrate her day on May 12. You did know it was May 12, right? Make your reservations early.

Sistrunk Marketplace & Brewery will host a Mother’s Day brunch cooking class on Saturday, May 11, with chef Jorge Montes showing how to make gnocchi paired with carbonara sauce. The fun will start with a rosemary Bellini cocktail. The afternoon will include burrata and lobster salad with pistachio pesto, and one assumes, a chance to sample the gnocchi. On Sunday, May 12, Sistrunk will offer a Mother’s Day, brunch boards from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for $16.95 per person. Check out sistrunkmarketplace.com for information on both events.

La Fuga, the signature coastal Italian restaurant at the Kimpton Shorebreak Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort, will open its doors from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for an indulgent, bottomless Italian brunch for $65 per person, which includes bottomless mimosas.

In addition to a seafood raw bar, soup, and salad offerings, and made-to-order omelets, there will be a carving station, for $85 a person. For more information, check out diplomatresort.com.

If OCEAN2000’s panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean from the Pelican Grand Resort don’t wow Mom, perhaps the exquisite buffet, offering an array of delicacies of the sea, Caribbean-inspired dishes, and festive desserts will. The first seating will include direct views of the 2024 Fort Lauderdale Air Show from the oceanfront verandah. Priced at $125 per person for the first seating and $105 for the second seating, go to pelicanbeach.com/ocean for more information.
