OutSFL’s ‘Your Choice Awards’ Voting Is Now Open

  • And a Sincere Apology to TP Lords

Voting is now open for OutSFL’s annual Your Choice Awards! Throughout July, we invited readers to submit nominations — and now, the finalists have been selected.

Congratulations to all the nominees.

This contest isn’t about declaring who’s “the best.” Rather, it’s a celebration of the incredible individuals, places, and organizations that make South Florida — and its LGBTQ community — so vibrant and unique. Simply being nominated is an achievement, and a chance for us and our readers to recognize those making a difference.

Winners will be announced in December, but let me be clear: there are no losers here. The Your Choice Awards exist to spotlight and uplift — not to divide.

That brings me to an error from last year’s contest.

It was recently brought to my attention that TP Lords — chosen by our readers as their Favorite Entertainer in Miami-Dade — was mistakenly left off the online winner’s list. I sincerely apologize for the oversight. The error has now been corrected.

I want to note that all winners, including TP, were honored at last December’s Your Choice Awards celebration, where we came together as a community with food, performances, and certificates of recognition.

I also want to address a misconception that has surfaced: that winners are selected based on whether or not they advertise with us. Let me be absolutely clear — this is not true.

Winners are chosen entirely by reader votes. Many individuals and businesses that have never advertised with us have won year after year.

That said, due to limited space in our print edition, we do prioritize coverage for advertisers in print. It’s not ideal, but it’s the reality of operating a small, independent media outlet.

Our journalism has always been free to readers — but it’s not free to produce. OutSFL is a queer-owned business navigating a challenging political and economic landscape. Advertising is what keeps us going.

We remain committed to transparency, fairness, and accountability. When we make a mistake, we’ll own it and do our best to make it right.

Thank you for supporting OutSFL — and for helping us celebrate the best of our community. Voting is open now, so let your voice be heard!
