Some restaurants don’t just serve meals, but they become part of a city’s soul and its history.
That’s exactly what Francesco has represented for Coral Gables. After an impressive 18-year run, it closed in 2018, leaving behind a legacy of culinary excellence and community connection. Now, Francesco is back, and this time with a stunning new home on Miracle Mile. And the city seems to be buzzing with the excitement of knowing that it’s back.
And let’s just say, it’s more than a reopening, but for those who visit and the community, it feels like a heartfelt reunion.
Where Tradition Meets a Warm Welcome
When my husband and I visited the new Francesco, we were instantly wrapped in a sense of comfort and could tell that this is a place that oozes nostalgia.
Even though the setting was brand new, it really feels warm, familiar, and buzzing with life. From the moment we stepped through the doors, it was clear that they meant it to be a space that honors tradition while embracing the future.
The ambiance blends elegant design with Peruvian roots. Inspired by the colorful wooden fishing boats of Callao and the craftsmanship of Peru, the interiors showcase rich wood tones, vibrant details, and a layout that feels both modern and timeless. From the circular nautical bar to the outdoor seating that invites guests to linger, every corner of Francesco is designed with care and intention.
An Atmosphere That Invites You In
This isn’t a stuffy fine-dining experience. So, trust me when I say that this legendary and authentic Peruvian spot delivers.
Francesco is refined, yes, but it’s also lively, relaxed, and welcoming.
The energy of the staff, the lively environment thanks to those that are dining, and the breezy outside terrace all contribute to an ambiance that encourages you to slow down and savor the moment. And we all need those moments!
We enjoyed our evening over perfectly crafted cocktails and a meal that proved that everything on its menu is cooked with love.
From the thoughtful service to the beautifully plated dishes around us, it was clear that Francesco is back to doing what it does best, and that’s bringing people together over exceptional food and drinks.
A Menu Full of Heart and Heritage
Francesco has always stood out in Miami’s culinary landscape for its Peruvian cuisine with an Italian twist. And the new menu continues that tradition, while adding in fresh techniques and seasonal creativity.
Executive Chef Sergio Riglos, alongside chefs Pedro Monteza and Jorge Quispe (both from the original Miami location), has crafted a menu that’s both exciting and deeply rooted in heritage.
Guests can expect crowd favorites like the Squid Ink Risotto with grilled calamari and Tiradito Francesco, which features thinly sliced fish in tangy leche de tigre. Appetizers such as Grilled Scallops with crispy pancetta and Rocoto Relleno de Camarón offer bold flavor and beautiful presentation.
Main courses range from indulgent pasta dishes like Cannelloni filled with creamy Peruvian chicken stew, to bold plates like the Double Cut Pork Chop Carapulcra with a comforting Southern Peruvian potato stew. And for those with a sweet tooth, desserts like the silky Suspiro Limeño or the playful Oreo Freddo Cheesecake offer the perfect finishing touch.
A Community Gathering Place
What sets Francesco apart isn’t just the food or the setting, it’s the soul.
There’s something undeniably special about the way this restaurant makes you feel. Whether it’s your first time visiting or you’re a longtime fan of the original, you’re treated like family the moment you walk in.
Live music on Wednesday nights adds an extra layer of magic, and weekly lunch specials and happy hour aptly named “Happy Bites,” also give locals a reason to keep coming back, and to invite friends and others to join them.
It’s the kind of place where memories are made, where milestones are celebrated, and where great food and warm company always go hand in hand.
A Delicious Future Ahead
Francesco’s return is more than a reopening, it’s a reaffirmation of everything that made the restaurant special from the start.
With its bold flavors, inviting ambiance, and commitment to celebrating Peruvian culture, it’s once again poised to be one of Coral Gables’ most cherished dining destinations.
And my visit proved that Francesco is ready to welcome those who love the restaurant back, like family. And that it’s also eager to make new friends and to create a new loyal fan base.
And, this will certainly be the case. Trust me!
