One easygoing evening, my husband Sebastian and I made our way to Bokamper’s Sports Bar & Grill in Fort Lauderdale, a spot we’d heard plenty about but had never experienced together and I was eager to write about. The restaurant sits directly on the Intracoastal, and the shift in atmosphere is immediate the moment you walk toward the entrance.
There’s a breeze coming off the water, boats gliding in and out, and that relaxed coastal rhythm that reminds you why waterfront dining in South Florida never goes out of style.
And the view fits perfectly with the environment at the restaurant, one that is lively, warm and fun all at the same time.
We chose a table outside to take advantage of the view. Even with the sports-bar energy that the restaurant is known for, one full of TVs and an expansive bar, perfect for watching a game or two, the patio feels like its own comfortable corner as well, one where you can kick back and relax while enjoying a nice lunch or dinner.
You get the liveliness without losing the peace that comes with being right by the water. It’s casual and unfussy, but still scenic enough to feel like a night out rather than a quick meal.
Once we settled in, we explored the menu and found more variety than we ever expected.
I started with a refreshing classic mojito, the kind that hits perfectly on a warm night. Then we tried one of their sushi options, their spicy tuna roll, which was not only delicious but surprisingly well-presented for a sports-bar setting.
From there, we sampled some of the items they’re known for, including their signature burgers and the wings with a range of rubs and sauces. The lineup gave us plenty to choose from depending on how bold or simple we wanted to go.
Everything arrived with generous portions and solid execution, creating a mix of comfort food and unexpected highlights that worked well for the evening.
What ultimately made the dinner memorable wasn’t just what was on the table but everything happening around it.
The restaurant does not only buzz with the energy of those dining there, but it also offers a sense of space and ease that made the meal feel like a small reset, one that we all need, and we enjoyed from the experience.
