There are certain people whose names become synonymous with a community. For me, Tony Nazzaro and Gloria McMichael are two of those people.
This week, our hearts are heavy as we say goodbye to Tony. While his passing leaves an incredible sadness, it also gives us an opportunity to celebrate a life that brought joy, laughter, music, and love to so many people for so many years.
I had the privilege of working with Tony and Gloria many times. They always brought professionalism, warmth, and an infectious energy that made every occasion better simply because they were there. They weren’t just performers—they were the heart of the room. They made everyone feel welcome, valued, and part of something special.
Tony had a gift that cannot be taught. He connected with people. He made audiences laugh, smile, and forget about life’s challenges, even if only for a little while. Alongside Gloria McMichael, they became one of the most beloved entertainment duos in the history of Wilton Manors and throughout South Florida. Their performances became traditions, and their friendship became a blessing to countless people throughout South Florida.
Beyond the stage, Tony and Gloria represented kindness, loyalty, and generosity. They gave so much of themselves to our community. They supported charities, businesses, nonprofits, Pride celebrations, and countless events that helped make Wilton Manors the welcoming and vibrant place it is today. Their legacy is measured not only in applause, but in the thousands of lives they touched.
To Gloria McMichael, our hearts ache for you. I know there are no words that can truly ease the loss of your partner, your teammate, and your best friend. Please know that you are surrounded by a community that loves you deeply. We mourn with you, we celebrate Tony with you, and we will continue to honor both of you for everything you have given us over the years.
I want you to know something from my heart: Thank you for your friendship, your kindness, and for always making our community brighter. I will cherish the many times we worked together and the memories we created.
Tony Nazzaro’s voice may be silent, but his spirit will forever echo throughout Wilton Manors. Every standing ovation, every laugh, every song, and every smile will remind us of the extraordinary man who dedicated his life to bringing happiness to others.
Thank you, Tony. You made our community stronger, happier, and more connected. You will always be remembered, always be loved, and your legacy will live on for generations to come.
With love and gratitude,
