(Not) Just Jack!
When you create a character as memorable as Sean Hayes’ Jack McFarland from Will & Grace, you run the risk of producers and directors never seeing you beyond that role. It’s happened to many character actors over the years. If you want to see the beginnings of Jack McFarland and the potential Sean Hayes exhibited from the very beginning, head over to the Stonewall Museum on May 14 at 6:30 when OutSFL and Stonewall Museum’s film series, 100 Films Every LGBTQ Person Should See, screens “Billy’s Hollywood Screen Test”. The 1998 film was Sean Hayes’ first starring role and came out the same year as “Will & Grace” premiered. Free admission.
Take Pride
Galleria Fort Lauderdale will display another great tribute to our community during Pride Month with “Take PRIDE!” 2026 exhibit “Coming Out of the Shadows.” It will feature photos and ephemera that tell the stories of the tumultuous political climate of 1960s pre-Stonewall Fort Lauderdale, running from May 28 through June 30. FayWhat?! will host the exhibit’s opening on May 28 from 6-8 p.m.
This year’s “Take PRIDE!” honorees, who have made significant contributions to the South Florida community, will be honored. They are Chris Caputo, commissioner and vice mayor of the City of Wilton Manors; Dennis Dean, executive director of ArtsUnited; Robert Griffin and Durell Watkins, the bishops of Sunshine Cathedral; Ronnie Larsen, actor, director, playwright, and producer; Rafaelé Narváez, co-founder and director of health programs for Latinos Salud; Jason Parsley, owner and publisher of Out South Florida; William C. Schultz, police chief, City of Fort Lauderdale; Nicole Stodard, artistic director of Thinking Cap Theatre; and Tatiana Williams, founder and executive director of TransInclusive Group, Inc.
The exhibit, a collaboration with Stonewall National Museum, Archives & Library and Florida International University, is curated by Fred Fejes, professor emeritus of multimedia studies at Florida Atlantic University, and Julio Capo, Jr., an author and associate professor of history at Florida International University.
Tickets for the May 28 “Take PRIDE!” reception are $50 and are available at HistoryFortLauderdale.org. Guests will enjoy a preview of the exhibition, cocktails, and appetizers. The exhibition will remain open until June 30; admission is free.
OutSpoken
The Gray Box Theater has created the OUTSpoken series to bring bold, influential voices into an intimate setting where real conversations can happen. It’s about going beyond headlines and soundbites to create space for honesty, reflection, and dialogue around the moments, movements, and experiences that shape our world. It is kicking off its inaugural presentation with Dr. Anthony Fauci on Sept. 24 at 7:30 p.m.
For more than four decades, Dr. Fauci has been at the center of some of the most defining public health moments of our time. From the HIV/AIDS crisis, where he chose to listen, engage, and work alongside the LGBTQ community when so many would not, to guiding the nation through COVID-19, his leadership has helped shape science, policy, and countless lives.
This will be an intimate, unscripted conversation, one that reflects on a lifetime of service, the evolution of science, and the human side of leadership during moments of uncertainty and change. Tickets are $86 ($159 VIP). For tickets and more information, go to ShowPass.com/Outspoken.
