Let’s just say it now, "Beetlejuice" at the Adrienne Arsht Center is a total scream, and I say this in the best way possible.

It’s an immersive, fun and the type of show that keeps people laughing loudly and enjoying a musical that is as unique as it is a great representation of the popular and beloved cult classic film.

When my bestie Sharma arrived, who is a fan of the musical which I’d never seen before, we were proudly decked out in our boldest outfits inspired by the cult-classic film. Think striped and black dresses, headpieces fun shoes, and a lot of ghoulish glam with a dash of sparkle.

What we didn’t expect was just how immersive and celebratory the entire evening would be from the moment we stepped inside the theater and headed out to the venue’s plaza before the show.

Right then, we knew we were in for a night to remember.

The vibe was electric. The pre-show festivities were nothing short of genius, with a blend of spooky-fun activities, themed photo ops, and interactive moments that brought fans of all ages together.

You could feel the excitement in the air as everyone, from first timers to lifelong "Beetlejuice" buffs, got into the spirit of the evening. A different type of night at the theater was taking place, and we loved it.

Once inside, the show itself was… well, otherworldly.

Based on Tim Burton’s beloved 1988 film, this musical adaptation captures everything fans adore about the story, but cranks it up with fresh humor, wild visuals, and a surprising dose of heart.

Lydia Deetz, the brooding teen with a soft spot for the supernatural, is as compelling as ever, but in this version, her emotional journey takes center stage. And it’s one that will move you just as much as it makes you laugh, which I truly enjoyed.

Just prepare yourself for feeling “all of the feels” at the show.

Of course, Beetlejuice himself steals the show every time he pops onto the stage with his wildly inappropriate jokes, manic energy, and striped suit swagger.

But the real magic of this production lies in its set and staging. It’s jaw-dropping. From the shifting walls of the haunted house to the surreal Netherworld, everything is designed to make you feel like you’ve slipped into another dimension, a dimension that thrives on chaos, and where comedy and the setting reign supreme.

The score is a total blast, featuring songs that are both hilarious and haunting. It’s a true rollercoaster of a musical. One minute you're cackling at a ridiculous one-liner, and the next you're unexpectedly touched by Lydia’s longing for connection and family.

That balance is what makes "Beetlejuice" stand out. It doesn’t just parody death, it celebrates life in the strangest, most heartfelt ways and how we can best celebrate ourselves and each other.

By curtain call, we were cheering with the rest of the crowd and left with a smile.

As always, the show and the magic of theater is a true reminder of how powerful, cathartic, and just downright fun live performances can be.

Trust us, simply say Beetlejuice three times and get yourself to the Arsht Center. You won’t regret it.

And do it soon! The show is only being presented at the Miami venue through May 4, meaning that this limited engagement will vanish quicker than you might have expected.

Beetlejuice is haunting the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts in Miami at 1300 Biscayne Blvd and is part of its Broadway in Miami series. For tickets, dates, and more information, visit arshtcenter.org/beetlejuice or call (305) 949-6722.
