To fulfill its mission to be the global Gayborhood in your pocket, Grindr is rolling out its very own bus tour this June.

From San Francisco to New York City, Grindr’s going full-steam ahead with the Great All American-Gay Road Trip, inviting the community to hop on for the ride of their life in ten cities across the country. Lucky us, they’re stopping in Wilton Manors for Stonewall on June 15. The bus will be available from 3-11 p.m. for you to hop on board, strike a pose, and show them what you got. The bus will feature two full-service portrait studios to make your grind that much hotter this summer.

They’ve partnered with Q Care Plus, which will provide LGBTQ+, gender-affirming, and sexual health & wellness care on board. There will also be drag queens, highway hunks, punny bumper stickers, free swag, and Grindr giveaways (what, no PreP? Condoms I hope).

PICTURE IT: FORT LAUDERDALE, 2024

Sophia’s out on bail after being busted by the DEA for running a drug ring for retirees. Blanche and Rose have founded CreakN, a thriving sex app for seniors. Dorothy is trying to hold it all together with help from a new (much) younger sex-crazed lover. Following sold-out performances and rave reviews across the country, The Golden Girls are back and better than ever with a new stage show that’s more exciting than a trip to the Rusty Anchor. Golden Girls: The Laughs Continue tour will include nearly a month of performances (from Sept. 3 – 29) in the Amaturo Theater at The Broward Center.

Tickets go on sale May 23. A very special VIP photo experience add-on includes photos with the actors on the set after the show. The cast includes Ryan Bernier as Dorothy, Vince Kelley as Blanche, Adam Graber as Rose, Christopher Kamm as Sophia, and Tommy Favorite as Stanley/Burt.

LGBTQ WRITES

OutSFL’s own Gregg Shapiro will lead a discussion group at Boca Raton’s downtown library branch on Thursday, June 20, “Introduction to Pride Authors from South Florida.” From 6-7:30 p.m. Our readers may know Shapiro for his insightful film reviews, but he is also an award-winning poet, with nine books including Refrain in Light, publication in numerous literary magazines including RFD, Pleiades, Orange Blossom Review, San Pedro River Review, BarBar, Otherwise Engaged, The Penn Review, Gargoyle, The Post Grad Journal, confetti, SoFloPoJo, and BP Review. During his talk, he will introduce his audience to notable authors and their works in contemporary LGBTQ+ literature. He will feature South Florida writers such as Caridad Moro-Gronlier, the newly named Poet Laureate of Miami-Dade and the author of the award-winning 2021 poetry collection Tortillera; award-winning writer Julie Marie Wade, whose 2023 essay collection otherwise has been named as a Lambda Literary Award finalist; Black and gay poet Jubi Arriola Headley whose 2024 poetry collection Bound was just published as well as a teaser about my upcoming book with Fred Fejes, Last Call South Florida, a history of LGBTQ+ bars from West Palm Beach to Key West.
