Drag brunch at The Hard Rock Hotel. Photo courtesy of The Pride Center.

Something comfortable enough to accommodate an extra serving of hash browns, yet chic enough for the photo ops.

Caftans are encouraged! What has become the annual kick-off event for Pride Month in South Florida returns on May 31, the most fabulous brunch of the year features show-stopping drag performances, a gourmet brunch, and an indulgent open bar, and it all benefits The Pride Center. Drag brunch at The Hard Rock Hotel in Hollywood also celebrates individuals who are helping build and strengthen the LGBTQ community. Because Pride is about more than a fabulous celebration, it is also about lifting each other, especially when facing so much hate and prejudice coming from the White House.

This year, the event, hosted by WSVN's Deco Drive personality Alex Miranda, will recognize the achievements of three individuals by presenting them with The Pride Center Icon Award, honoring LGBTQ+ Trailblazers. This year’s honorees are Kevin Jennings, CEO of Lambda Legal and founder of GLSEN, Katie Phang, Senior Advisor for Democracy Defenders Fund, and Fort Lauderdale Chief of Police William C. Schultz.

Then, the glamorous queens perform, bringing the drama with dazzling looks, jaw-dropping performances, and energy that will bring the whole room to their feet. The extraordinary queens who will be bringing the house down include Daisy Deadpetals, avant-garde artistry wrapped in pure theatrical elegance, bold, commanding, and born for the spotlight, TP Lords, and Erika Norell, the definition of grace under a follow spot. Joining them will be Christopher Peterson, a legend in the truest sense; he has been dazzling audiences for decades. FKA Twink is fresh, fierce, and full of surprises, while Quinn Zrenity serves high glamour, theatrical energy, and Miami nightlife magic.

Seats fill fast every year, so grab your friends, claim your table, and get ready for a brunch that’s equal parts celebration, spectacle, and Pride kickoff party. The cocktail reception begins at 11:30 a.m., followed by brunch until 1 p.m., with the drag show running from 1-3 p.m. General admission is $175, VIP tickets start at $225. Go to PrideCenter.org or Casino.HardRock.com for tickets and more information.

New, Interactive Exhibit Debuts at Stonewall

Just in time for Stonewall Honors on May 30, Stonewall National Museum, Archives, & Library is throwing open the doors to something electric: a dynamic, touch‑activated ‘kiosk’ that brings LGBTQ history to life. Visitors can dive into a living, breathing digital archive that spotlights the heroes, disruptors, artists, activists, and everyday champions who shaped the movement and continue to push it forward. The new display transforms the museum into a choose‑your‑own‑adventure journey through queer history. Tap a screen, and suddenly, you’re face‑to‑face with the stories of icons who paved the way, as well as unsung legends who deserve the spotlight, bridging historical immersion with connection and pride.  As Pride season kicks off, this unveiling sets the tone: vibrant, inclusive, and unapologetically celebratory. Whether you’re a history buff, a community member, or someone who loves a powerful story, this is the moment to step inside, explore, and feel the energy of a legacy still being written.

The Stonewall Museum is located at 1300 E Sunrise, Fort Lauderdale, and is open Monday through Wednesday, and Friday from 11 am-5 p.m., and Thursday from 11 am-8 pm, as well as Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.  For more information, go to Stonewall-Museum.org.

Comedy & Politics

With things the way they are in this country, you have to laugh because otherwise you’d be crying. On June 4, there’s a night of comedy to benefit the Angie Nixon for US Senate Campaign, with headliner Raul Hernandez, from 7-9:30 p.m. at Chain Bridge Distillery in Oakland Park. Hernandez brings high-energy performances and crowd-favorite storytelling to the stage. He’ll be joined by Mark Orintas, who transforms personal challenges, from chronic illness and aging gracefully, into relatable comedy. Also in the line-up are Big Pedro, Jess Laso, Lily Icangelo, and Mitch Elie. Tickets are available at mobilize.us/mobilize/event/957979/
