Nearly 60 years ago, a Broadway classic was born when John Kander, Fred Ebb, and Joe Masteroff’s “Cabaret” opened on Broadway. But what opened on Broadway in 1966 is a show very different from what many people know today. Unlike shows like classic musicals that have been revived more or less unchanged books and scores, Cabaret has seen multiple dramatic transformations in both its book, score, and staging as it was adapted for the screen and then revived on Broadway three times.

When Marvel Studios first brought out 2010’s Iron Man, it heralded a new age where superheroes would dominate the cultural zeitgeist on a level not seen since the coming of Star Wars. While superheroes had had some cinematic success before with characters like Batman, Spider-Man and the X-Men, Iron Man and the Marvel movies that followed would blow the lid off box office, earning hundreds of millions, even billions of dollars.
Here in South Florida where I live, Pride begins early (in Hollywood in January), despite the Red State’s rulers’ intentions to erase us, and continues through October (in Miami Shores).
