Stefano May Talks Wilton Manors Performance

His voice is smooth, and his look is seductive. Longtime fans and new converts sway, smile and sing along when Stefano May takes the stage. Now he’s preparing for his show as part of the HarmonyWaves concert series.

“I can’t wait,” May said. “When that feeling’s inside, and you see that stage, I was so excited to do that show at Hunters.”

The proud LGBTQ singer is taking the stage at Hunters at 7 p.m. on March 7. He’s a well-rounded musician who excels in piano and songwriting along with his vocals.

He has lived in Italy, New York, and other places, but says there’s something special about South Florida audiences.

“What I witness in Wilton Manors is inclusion. There is jealousy in this world. But they are the ones that included me in this world. It was really beautiful and gave me so much hope.”

HarmonyWaves is a new group but has already made an impact on Wilton Manors. In February, they shut down Wilton Drive and brought in “American Idol” star David Archuleta.

They are focused on using music and shows as a way to build and bring community together.

As for May, he doesn’t take his talent for granted. He appreciates the opportunity to perform in his adopted hometown where art and artists are welcomed and celebrated.

“When you do music, or you do art, it’s like the energy we take from something else. We are just the filter, we are very blessed to make what we do.”
