Like the game Monopoly, you have to be lucky to find free parking in Wilton Manors. Now the city is taking away the option of using cash and forcing users to pay a fee.
To be fair, the fee is small; 35 cents per transaction. People who use the app or credit cards at city lots and metered street parking already pay the fee. But starting May 5, parking goes cashless.
Currently, meters accept cash, but that is ending.
Wilton Manors residents can buy an annual parking pass for $60 which is valid at city owned and operated lots, but not meters.
And speaking of the meters, you can’t miss them. They were painted in rainbow colors a few years ago by local artist Claudia Castillo. City Manager Leigh Ann Henderson says they are staying for now.
Ways to pay are:
Pay with Credit Card – Directly at the meter or pay station.
Pay via App – Download the ParkMobile app from the Google Play Store or App Store.
Pay via QR Code – Simply scan the QR code to pay.
Pay by Text – Text “Park” to 77223 to complete your payment.
Pay by Phone – Call (877) 727-5714 to pay.
