As the summer heats up and the good times continue to roll, there is an addition to the gay nightlife here in Palm Beach County: Lucky’s opened the new Hidden Social Club.
Listen, this is not your average social club. The creators of this social club drew inspiration from Speakeasies from the prohibition days.
“You gain entrance by solving the weekly riddle entering the code on the keypad,” co-owner Kurt Taylor said. “Everything is prepared well with a lot of little flourish and flair. What I want is the entire building to be a safe, inclusive space for anybody that wants to come and make it whatever they want. You can play pickleball or cornhole during the day, and then at night sit in this kind of sexy vibe and have a great cocktail and enjoy the night.”
I recently had an opportunity to take a visit to the new space. For starters, let’s about the decor. One word that easily comes to mind is “polished.” They have a full bar equipped with emerald green and gold chairs and pink flamingoes that add to a distinctive yet unique flair.
Supplying drinks is one of their superpowers. The Hidden Social Club has over 25 beers on tap along with several mixed cocktails. During my visit, I tried the Austin East Ciders Watermelon, which is a perfect blend of watermelon and apple. The drinks not only hydrate you, but educate you. Each cocktail gives a specific date of origin, with some dating back to the 1800s.
Most bars have standard pool tables or dart boards, but the Social Club has a disco ball and state-of-the-art Pickleball courts. Yes, I played, and no, I did not win.
Next month, the Social Club will participate in the West Palm Beach Beer Fest as a vendor. They also host other weekly events like Ladies Night on Thursdays and pickleball from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
