The Palm Beach County Human Rights Council invites guests to bring their Palm Beach best to its swanky Winter Fête, where every sip supports a cause. Elegance meets activism at their annual fundraiser on Jan. 11 from 7:30-11 p.m.
PBCHRC is a nonprofit organization dedicated to ending LGBTQ+ discrimination through legal advocacy. They endorse elected officials for office and advocate for the passage of LGBTQ+ rights laws.
The event will be held at a home in central Boca Raton at a community rated as one of the top 10 exclusive gated communities in the United States by Forbes. The secret’s safe for now — ticket holders will get the private address days before the big night.
Dress to impress in Palm Beach casual and don’t worry about parking, valet service is on the house.
Tickets are on sale now, with individual tickets priced at $250 and host committee, which provides you with two tickets, at $1000.
The revenue will support scholarship programs through PBCHRC.
Rand Hoch, PBCHRC president and founder, says that they have several scholarships including one for LGBTQ+ high schoolers who wish to further their education as well as one they are currently developing in memory of Charlie Fredrickson, a community member who passed away. Hoch said he was an engineer and amateur astronomer, so the scholarship will support students in STEM fields.
Another resource the event will fund is their endowment.
“What we call our ‘fuck you’ fund,’” Hoch explained with a laugh. “The reason we have that is so that, in the event we need to react strongly to something, I’ll have the ability to do that. Fortunately, nothing has risen to that level yet, despite all the horrible laws that have been passed. Most of them are still in the courts to determine what will happen. But every now and then, something comes up, and we really need to be creative in our response.”
