For anyone who has ever swiped through dating apps and thought, “there has to be a better way,” the Garden District Taproom has your back.
On Feb. 7 at 6 p.m., they’re throwing a Queer Singles Mixer and Makers Market.
No speed dating. No awkward forced mingling. Just a chill space to meet new people, grab a drink, and, if nothing else, browse some fantastic LGBTQ+ vendors in the beer garden.
“The purpose of the event is to hold a laid back, low-pressure, super fun Valentine’s-themed night in a safe space for the queer community,” says the event organizers.
It all came together thanks to Nic Huey, a familiar name for those who frequent the Queer Markets. The original plan was a Valentine’s-themed market, but since the venue had already seen success with a matchmaking-style mixer, the team decided to merge the two. A market and a mixer? Consider your Friday plans handled.
Color-coded bracelets will help take the guesswork out of who’s single, who’s open to chatting, and who’s just there to sip and support. Plus, for those who need a little social buffer, icebreaker games will be stationed at select tables to help kickstart conversations.
Whether you’re on the hunt for a date, a new friend, or just an excuse to get out of the house, this event promises a little something for everyone. Bonus points if you leave with a number and a handmade candle.
So, will this be the night you lock eyes across a beer garden and find the one? Maybe. But at the very least, you’ll get to vibe with good people, support queer makers, and raise a glass to the possibilities.
The Queer Singles Mixer & Makers Market takes place at Garden District Taproom, 410 Evernia St #119, West Palm Beach. Singles, wingpeople, allies, and everyone in between are welcome.
