Happy Pride, everyone!

It might seem unusual to hear that in March, but here in Palm Beach County, the celebration is just getting started! While we typically associate LGBTQ+ Pride with June, we have Pride events throughout the year — My Hollywood Pride took place in January, and Miami Beach Pride is coming up on April 5 and 6. Lake Worth Beach honors March as Palm Beach Pride Month by raising the Pride flag in front of City Hall, and this year’s ceremony took place on March 4.

Palm Beach Pride is coming up on March 29 and 30, and we can’t wait to show our rainbow spirit! In this issue of OutFAU, we’ll be covering everything from the festival lineup to local LGBTQ+ businesses that deserve our support. You’ll also find:

  • A review of Lady Gaga’s fabulous (I promise I’m not biased!) new album, “Mayhem”
  • A deep dive into Gallup’s latest Gen Z LGBTQ+ poll and what it means for our community
  • A look at what it’s really like to be a queer performer in the theatre industry

As if all this excitement weren’t enough, let’s not forget that Spring Break is officially over, and we’re already halfway through the semester — congratulations, everyone, we did it! This milestone is a perfect opportunity to reconnect with classmates, professors, and campus organizations. If you’re craving new experiences or want to get more involved, now’s the time.

While Pride does include parties and parades — no denying they’re part of the fun — it’s also a protest. It’s a reminder of our history, our resilience, and the ongoing fight for equality. Pride is about building community, sharing stories, and standing proud of who we are, both during special events and in our everyday lives.

If you’re looking for a way to spread your wings and develop your writing or journalism chops, OutFAU is always on the lookout for fresh voices. Whether you identify as LGBTQ+ or you’re an ally, if you have a connection to FAU and a passion for reporting or storytelling, we’d be delighted to have you on our team.

So step out of your comfort zone, cheer on your friends, and don’t be afraid to live boldly — this is your moment! We hope this issue inspires you to show your true colors every day of the year.

Happy Pride!
