Fresh off a vacation to Mexico, newlyweds Amrit Kapai and Nicholas Kouchoukos return to Miami to serve as ambassadors at the 31st annual Winter Party.
The couple, who star in the Bravo reality television series “Family Karma,” are scheduled to attend some of the events held at venues across Miami and Miami Beach.
“We love serving as ambassadors for Winter Party,” said Kapai. “The Task Force does so many great things for our community, and Winter Party brings in millions of dollars to the Miami economy and provides a ton of jobs for people in retail and hospitality.”
“Family Karma” is set in Miami and follows the lives of three generations of Indian Americans. Last season concluded with Kapai, an attorney, and kouchoukos, a teacher, tying the knot.
“It hasn’t always been rainbows and butterflies,” said Kouchoukos. “We do have a common vision about where we want to go in the future, and that’s what keeps us together.”
Fatherhood is part of that vision as the men have decided to have a baby through surrogacy. That process will begin in Colombia.
“It’s less expensive financially, but also LGBT couples are guaranteed the same rights as heterosexual couples wanting to pursue a family,” said Kouchoukos. “It’s written and built into their constitution, and that gives us a lot of comfort.”
Whether fans will get to see the family grow remains in doubt, as the network has yet to green-light a fourth season.
“We’re hopeful and optimistic, but currently we’re sort of in limbo between seasons,” said Kapai.
