Out South Florida is asking for readers to choose the best our community has to offer.
The publication’s first Your Choice Awards has launched with categories in Broward, Palm Beach, Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties. Participation is limited to one vote per day in each county.
Categories range from the best restaurants, bars and hair salons to local celebrities, groups, politicians, thrift stores and museums.
Here are some highlights from Broward County:
In Oakland Park, five eateries are competing for best restaurant honors, including Peter Pan Diner, a longtime favorite for group gatherings and early bird specials. In operation for 44 years, Peter Pan Diner was recently named the most iconic diner in Florida by Reader’s Digest. Other contenders are The Mason Jar Pub (American comfort food), The Butcher’s Barrel, El Guanaco Taqueria y Antojitos (El Salvadorian & Mexican dishes) and Nour Thai Kitchen.
Along with Oakland Park, there is the best restaurant category for Wilton Manors, Fort Lauderdale and the rest of Broward County.
Foodies have a lot to choose from with categories for best burger, taco, pizza, sandwich, bakery, ice cream, dessert, barbecue, Asian, Greek, Italian, Mexican and vegetarian/vegan.
Near the end of the ballot, voters are asked to write in the best PrEP clinic, staff and cleaning company.
The last day to vote is Sept. 28. To vote, visit outsfl.com/yca
