Avant-garde outfits with attitude as the accessory, and you have a glimpse inside the amazing world of Ethan Mundt, perhaps best known as Utica Queen. Mundt did the LGBTQ reality show daily double, competing on both “RuPaul’s Drag Race” and, most recently, on “Project Runway.”

Now he’s coming to South Florida to present his creations and support the LGBTQ community at the FlockFest Fashion Show on Thursday, Oct. 16 at the Seminole Hard Rock pool in Hollywood.

“I’ve always wanted to show my work over a pool, bay-bee,” he said during an interview with OutSFL and fashion show hostess FayWhat?!. “I’ve already gotten such amazing energy from y’all. There’s something to be said about when you’re presenting your art that there is a community that is full of love.”

There are plenty of artists who do drag and design fashion. Many queens do it out of necessity because over-the-top looks aren’t cheap. But for Mundt, he seems to find a spiritual balance in merging the genres.

“Utica informs the clothes. I get an amazing opportunity to perform and take people out of this world for just a couple [of] minutes and put them in my universe. It’s the same thing with clothes,” he said. “We as drag artists story tell through the things that we’re wearing. We’re trying to create that fantasy on people’s bodies.”

Mundt says he will be presenting a collection during the show, but is coy about a performance by Utica. “On ‘Project Runway’ I was in drag doing the fashion shows and I will admit it was relatively difficult. For this, I think I’m just going to bring Ethan and the magic will be in the clothes. Knowing the backstage and how crazy it gets, I know if I’m in full drag it’s going to be coo-coo bananas.”

That said, never say never. “I do bring things just in case, so who knows?”

Watch the interview to learn if Mundt is asked which show is more catty: “Project Runway” or “Drag Race.”

The event is Oct. 16 at 6:30 p.m. at the pool of the Guitar Hotel, tickets are available at FlockFestEvents.org.
