A new, exclusive survey conducted by OutSFL shows Vice President Kamala Harris with 89% support among respondents. Her opponent, former president Donald Trump, has 11%.
“I am supporting [Harris] because she is an ally who is a mainstream liberal who exists in the real world and avoids the bomb throwing rhetoric,” one commenter wrote.
While Wilton Manors specifically, and Broward County generally, is the bluest area of Florida, it will take those kinds of numbers here if Harris and down ballot democrats are to prevail in Florida this year.
As of Oct. 7, Harris trailed Trump by six points, according to Real Clear Politics’ poll average. There is less than a month to go in the campaign, and ballots are already arriving by mail.
These numbers are little changed from the first survey OutSFL conducted in July when Harris first announced her intention to run for president. Then she received 91% to Trump’s 9%.
A second question on the presidential race included options for third party, undecided and won’t vote at all for president. Combined those three options only accounted for only 2% of the responses, with Harris at 88% and Trump at 10%.
Given Trump’s anti-LGBTQ rhetoric, which is often echoed by his supporters, means getting votes in Broward is an uphill climb for Republicans. Those sentiments are reflected in comments made by poll participants.
One supporter of Trump said they don’t like the economy: “You’re a monster if you vote for Kamala. I’m tired of watching my family suffer because of inflation. I used to be a Democrat but not anymore.”
Others are against Trump because of his blatant anti-democratic, pro-dictatorial beliefs.
The survey was conducted online via SurveyMonkey from Sept. 30 to Oct. 3, with 164 responses. The survey asked three questions: where the respondent lives; who they support, which included options for undecided, third party, and won’t vote; and the last question only gave two options: Harris or Trump.
