Mass deportations, hostile policies towards LGBTQ, slashed budgets for HIV testing, care and prevention. The list of horribles coming out of the White House is long and terrifying, and South Florida citizens are concerned.

Extremely concerned.

An exclusive OutSFL poll finds 85% of respondents are “extremely concerned” with another 6% “very concerned.” About 6% are “not concerned at all.”

When asked to explain their votes, people didn’t hesitate to sound off.

"Anti-gay actions, mindless job cuts, taking over the Kennedy Center, supporting Putin, cuts to our Veterans, cuts to Social Security and Medicare, betraying our allies, starting a trade war. Too many to mention,” one person wrote.

Another went after Trump’s chaotic foreign policy.

“Alienation and loss of respect from our allies and global partners. ON and ON and ON. By the time republicans and the rest of our nation wake up...it'll be too late! 51st. State of Canada? Greenland? Panama Canal? Gaza? Seriously?!?”

(This comment was made before we learned officials shared plans to attack Yemen on social media.)

The poll shows a cavernous difference with the rest of the country. While not exactly an apples-to-apples question, Real Clear Politics shows Trump’s favorability rating at 46.5% to 49.7% unfavorable.

It’s only been a couple of months into the nascent administration, and people already say it’s taking a mental toll.

“A lot of people will struggle. A lot of people will turn to alcohol and other drugs to self-medicate during the next 4 years and that scares me.”

Those that replied “not concerned at all” generally didn’t comment. Those that did form a coherent argument often focused on trans-bashing.

"The gay rights movement of 2025 looks nothing like the movement 10 years ago. It [is] flooded with outlandish frig [sic] groups who promote sterilizing children, odd groups who don't know what sex they are and so on. It has completely abandoned the base that made the movement strong. It is truly sad.”

Another wrote, “We should clearly take a stand and seperate [sic] from Transgender Idology [sic] and stand with our real Transexual Brothers and Sisters.”
