Three surveys. Nearly identical results. OutSFL readers continue to overwhelmingly reject President Donald Trump, with 91% disapproving of his performance in the latest survey.
The findings closely mirror OutSFL’s previous presidential surveys conducted in April 2025 and October 2025, showing little movement in reader attitudes toward Trump over the past year.
The findings have remained remarkably consistent. Across all three surveys, only about 8% of respondents said they approve of Trump’s performance. Another 2% selected unsure/no opinion.
National polling paints a different picture, though Trump’s numbers there have also slipped in recent months. Polling aggregators Nate Silver and RealClearPolitics show his approval ratings hitting new lows. Silver’s aggregate currently shows Trump with a 39% approval rating and 58% disapproval, while RealClearPolitics shows 40% approval and 57% disapproval.
“It will take generations to recover from the damage Trump and the Republican Party have to our country,” one respondent wrote.
The consistency of OutSFL’s polling suggests attitudes toward Trump among readers remain deeply entrenched.
Another respondent said: “Trump is the worst president in the history of our country.”
Other OutSFL surveys back up those findings. Prior to Trump’s re-election, only 10% of readers said they supported him. Just months into Trump’s second term, 85% of respondents said they were “extremely concerned” about his presidency, while another 6% described themselves as “very concerned.” A third survey found that 86% of respondents felt his second term was going worse than expected.
“The President does have some good ideas but the execution of many are poor,” one respondent wrote. “He was better during his first term. Not sure what he's thinking this time around. Surprised by his actions and very disappointed.”
The survey also asked readers how Trump’s policies have affected them personally. About 85% said they’ve been negatively impacted, while just 7% reported a positive effect. Another 4% said his policies have had no impact on their lives, while 4% were undecided or had no opinion.
Another respondent said: “I voted for him and he’s been nothing but a huge disappointment.”
A few readers did voice support for the president.
— “My stocks and 401k have never been better!”
— “I am proud to be a gay Republican, even though I know that I am in the minority.”
Breakdown by Issue
Trump did not fare much better when readers were asked about his handling of specific issues. Approval ratings for the economy and foreign policy saw some of the steepest declines, each dropping by roughly 3-4 percentage points compared to prior surveys.
- Immigration: 10% approve (his highest score)
- HIV-related healthcare: 4% approve (his lowest)
- Economy: 6% approve
- Foreign policy: 6% approve
When it came to LGBTQ rights, OutSFL split the question into two categories:
- Gay, lesbian, and bisexual rights: 5% approve
- Transgender rights: 7% approve
“President Trump, while appointing gay men to some of the highest offices in the land, [he also says] negative and false statements about our transgender brothers and sisters. He is a talking point on trans issues from the far right religious groups,” one respondent wrote.
Another said: “I disapprove of policies that would deny medical and psychiatric care to transgender people. However, I completely approve of policies that limit participation in women's sports to people who are born female. Your question on trans rights, as posed, is simplistic and lacks nuance.”
While national polls fluctuate, OutSFL readers have remained strikingly consistent in their views of Trump.
OutSFL surveyed 235 readers between April 16 and April 25 via SurveyMonkey.
