A Fort Lauderdale cruise next April promises ocean views, tropical cocktails — and speakers known for their anti-trans rhetoric.
A company called Right of Center Events is organizing the cruise, featuring speakers like Brandon Straka — who pleaded guilty to charges related to the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot — and Arielle Scarcella, a South Florida-based lesbian MAGA supporter known for her outspoken anti-trans views.
The local women’s group G Girls of South Florida is promoting the cruise and offering a discount code for those who sign up. Founder Karen Traynor shared the cruise’s promotional video on the group’s social media.
“I’ll promote anybody’s opinion,” Traynor said.
When asked how this would affect trans members or is a signal that they are unwelcome, she replied, “I don’t know how it feels to trans people. We all get along. There’s always a fight. I don’t understand why.”
Despite claiming to “promote anybody’s opinion,” comments for the cruise post were turned off.
When asked about trans rights, she declined to answer specifics but said, “People shouldn’t be judged for their opinion. Everyone should listen to each other one day. I don’t have the answers.”
She also added: “There should be a safe space for all people.”
Traynor said she hadn’t looked into Straka or Scarcella, and claimed that neither she nor G Girls benefits from the promo code.
