The Economic Opportunity Lab has launched a new national website, economicopportunitylab.com, bringing together reporting from dozens of local newsrooms examining how geography, policy, and local conditions shape economic mobility across the U.S.
The site serves as a central hub for stories produced by 48 participating outlets and NBC and Telemundo owned stations, highlighting place-based reporting rooted in local communities. Coverage draws on data from Opportunity Insights and focuses on how factors like housing access, education systems, health care, and public policy influence opportunity.
OutSFL’s contributions to the project center on South Florida’s LGBTQ community, with reporting that examines how queer nonprofits and community centers provide housing support, mental-health care, and life-skills training that help stabilize lives and create pathways to long-term mobility.
OutSFL published its first story for the project, How Queer Centers Quietly Power Economic Mobility, and can be found here.
More stories and ongoing coverage can be found at economicopportunitylab.com.
