Stonewall may be gone, but Pride month rolls on!
This Saturday, June 21, is Seniors of Today: 2025 LGBTQ+ Senior Pride, an opportunity to celebrate our community’s history, thank those that paved the way, and welcome those who didn’t come out until later in life.
“They’re part of a generation who helped lay the groundwork for many of the rights and freedoms we enjoy today,” SunServe Deputy Director Alex Spriggs said.
The event goes down from noon until 3 p.m. at Hagen Park in Wilton Manors, right behind city hall. SunServe, SAGE South Florida, and The Pride Center are sponsoring the event.
In addition to great food, music, and dancing, there will be Pride staples including drag entertainment and stories. Most importantly, it’s about celebrating community.
“Senior Pride is special,” SunServe’s Lisa Peters said. “It’s a chance for us to pay homage to the seniors of today. Who have been there fighting for LGBT rights. Many were even at the Stonewall uprising. This is our way to say you are seen, and we appreciate you.”
Spriggs reiterated those feelings. “Seniors of Today is an opportunity to celebrate those in our community who are often overlooked and experience disproportionate rates of loneliness and isolation.”
The event is free and open to people of all ages. To register for your ticket, visit SunServe.org/SOT.
