For Floridians, Pride Month represents a time of celebration of freedom and of resilience but also a time of rededication of our collective purpose.
The cynical, divisive policies of Ron DeSantis and too many Republicans in the state legislature have driven deep wedges in communities around our state. So much of the progress we’ve achieved at the ballot box, in the courtroom, and in the hearts and minds of Americans has been sacrificed for misguided political gain. I truly don’t think this is what Floridians want from their government.
Luckily, voices of reason and inclusion have played a big role in slowing more degradation and deprivation of rights of Floridians to live their lives in peace and freedom. The courts have limited some of the most hateful impacts of the harmful legislation passed in Tallahassee and, most importantly, much of the effort to further attack LGBTQ Floridians in the legislature failed in 2024.
But we must remain vigilant and ramp up our commitment to civic engagement. I’m celebrating Pride Month with all of you as a candidate for the Florida House of Representatives in District 98. I don’t want to be on the sidelines at such a consequential time. I want to be in the fight. Not just for freedom, equality and justice…but for progress on issues that unite all Floridians: property tax relief, better health care, the reproductive freedom of women, and more affordable housing.
Let's choose to look to the future with anticipation and optimism. During all our past struggles, our community has never given up the fight. And we never will give up that fight.
In solidarity,
Mitch Rosenwald PhD, LCSW, Candidate for Florida House of Representatives, District 98
