OutSFL won two awards in the 2026 Green Eyeshade Awards contest, continuing the publication's recognition among the Southeast's top journalism organizations.

OutSFL took third place in Newspaper Cover Design for Julie Palmer's collection of front-page designs.

"We're incredibly proud of Julie for this well-deserved recognition," said OutSFL Publisher Jason Parsley. "Strong journalism isn't just about great reporting. It's also about presenting stories in a way that draws readers in. Julie's designs have become a hallmark of OutSFL”

In the student division, Mary Rasura won second place in Light Feature Writing for two of her features: How ‘Wicked’ Superfans Find Comfort, Courage, and Queer Magic & Trans Muslim Superhero Faces Monsters, Identity in New Comic.

“As a student journalist, Rasura has amassed an impressive collection of awards during her college career,” Parsley said.

The Green Eyeshade Awards, presented by the Society of Professional Journalists, are the nation's oldest regional journalism competition. The contest recognizes outstanding work from news organizations across the Southeastern United States.

The latest honors add to OutSFL's growing list of journalism awards. In recent years, the publication has been recognized by multiple contests.
