OutSFL is proud to launch the Melissa St. John College Student Scholarship, honoring the legacy of beloved drag illusionist and LGBTQ advocate Melissa St. John. This annual scholarship will support an LGBTQ-identifying undergraduate and / or graduate student who demonstrates a deep commitment to community service and leadership.
Open to Florida residents enrolled or planning to enroll in any accredited two- or four-year college or university in the state, the scholarship will award $1,000 to a student whose activism, volunteer work, or grassroots service is helping uplift their community — especially the LGBTQ community.
“Melissa gave so much of herself to this community,” said Jason Parsley, Publisher of OutSFL. “This scholarship keeps that spirit alive by investing in the next generation of changemakers.”
All majors are welcome. Whether you’re organizing Pride events, mentoring LGBTQ youth, running food drives, or helping your chosen family — this scholarship is for you.
Applications are open now and due Dec. 1.
Ready to apply, or know someone who should?
There will be a fundraiser for the scholarship Oct. 29 at Aquaplex.
