My husband Sebastian and I recently found ourselves doing something we rarely do these days when we are busy with everyday errands and stress: lingering. What started as a casual night at Sunness Supper Club turned into one of those evenings where the conversation flows, the cocktails keep coming, and you suddenly realize you've been sitting at the bar for hours.

That's the magic of Sunness.

Located on Sunrise Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale, the restaurant has an inviting, neighborhood feel that makes you comfortable the moment you walk in. While the space is beautiful, it never feels intimidating or overly trendy. Instead, it feels warm, welcoming, and designed for people who genuinely want to enjoy each other's company.

We grabbed seats at the bar and quickly fell into the rhythm of the restaurant. The bartenders were friendly, attentive, and happy to make recommendations without ever making us feel rushed. In a dining scene where service can sometimes feel transactional, Sunness stands out because hospitality remains at the heart of the experience.

Their daily happy hour from 5-7 p.m. is worth planning around. Cocktails and wines by the glass are just $10, while select bites are available for $11. It's one of those rare happy hours that feels generous.

An Espresso Martini proved to be the perfect way to kick off the evening, balancing rich coffee flavor with just the right amount of sweetness. Watching beautifully crafted Old Fashioneds and other signature cocktails make their way down the bar made it clear that Sunness takes its beverage program seriously. Every drink arriving in front of guests looked as thoughtful as the food.

Speaking of food, the happy hour menu offers plenty of reasons to order "just one more thing." Crispy rice topped with spicy tuna delivered the perfect combination of crunch and freshness, while jumbo lump crab cakes offered a rich, satisfying bite packed with flavor. Around us, plates of truffle frites disappeared quickly, and it wasn't hard to see why.

What I appreciated most about Sunness was how effortless everything felt. The food is elevated without being pretentious. The cocktails are creative without trying too hard. Most importantly, the atmosphere encourages you to slow down and enjoy the moment.

Sebastian and I left Sunness feeling like we found our new favorite date-night spot, one that I highly recommend to those looking for a genuine, classy and relaxed dining establishment that simply feels like home.
