I still remember the moment I opened the sleek bottle of Mutiny Island Vodka, a gift that promised something different.
Not just another spirit, but one born of Caribbean storms, passion, and flavor. Distilled from breadfruit (yes, breadfruit!) and pure Caribbean rainwater, the vodka was smooth, clean, and bright with delicate notes of citrus and green banana.
As a girl that was born and raised in Puerto Rico, I was curious to see that this is a different type of spirit that is not coming from my island, one that is known for producing top rum brands.
I tried it neat first curious and cautious. Then on the rocks. Both ways, the sip was unexpectedly elegant, floral, and full of warmth.
This isn’t just vodka, it’s a unique spirit meant to sip, but also a perfect one to mix with your favorite fruit juices, or a dash of club soda topped off with a lime.
So, imagine my excitement when I found out that Mutiny Island Vodka is now front and center at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, just 10 minutes from my home. It’s a place I’ve visited countless times for concerts, dinners, and hangouts with friends, now pouring a vodka that feels as bold and vibrant as the energy that fills its bars, stages, and lounges.
A Chef's Passion Turned Pour
The mastermind behind this spirit? Chef Todd Manley, a former restaurateur whose journey from the kitchen to the distillery is as inspiring as it is unexpected.
After spending time in the Caribbean and falling in love with the culture and bounty of the islands, he zeroed in on breadfruit, a sustainable, nutrient-rich fruit with a powerful past as the base of what would become Mutiny Island Vodka. In a conversation with Chef Todd, you could sense his excitement for this spirit to be featured in South Florida, since it was a passion project, one that he dedicated a lot of time when it came to the crafting and creating of what had become a new goal and dream come true.
He wanted to make sure that the vodka that was created was perfect for venues and restaurants looking for a different type of brand and taste when it comes to vodka. “Mutiny was born out of love, for the islands, for flavor, and for sustainability,” Chef Todd told me. “I wanted to create something that paid tribute to the beauty of the Caribbean while also breaking boundaries. It’s surreal and humbling to see it embraced by a powerhouse like Hard Rock.”
And embraced it is.
A Perfect Match at the Hard Rock
Since December, Mutiny has been making its mark across the Hard Rock property. It's now the official well vodka at Hard Rock Live, the arena that brings in major concerts and events year-round. And it's not just about big shows. Mutiny is being poured in signature cocktails at beloved spots like Abiaka Wood Fire Grill, Cipresso, Council Oak, and Kuro, each known for their culinary flair.
As someone who’s dined and explored every corner of this iconic resort, I can say this: Mutiny Island Vodka fits right in. It brings a cool, tropical smoothness that balances the lively, electric atmosphere of the Hard Rock crowd.
It’s the kind of spirit that works for a chill drink at L Bar, a game night at the Sports Bar, or poolside celebrations when the Ginger & Turmeric ROOTS Infusion rolls out this summer.
More Than a Just a Vodka
What makes Mutiny so special is not just the taste, but the heart behind it. Breadfruit isn’t just an ingredient. It’s a climate-resilient superfood that has helped feed island communities for generations. Chef Todd and his team have found a way to use it in a zero-waste distillation process, honoring tradition while pushing boundaries.
Mutiny’s name itself pays tribute to the infamous voyage that brought breadfruit from Tahiti to the Caribbean, one of history’s most dramatic sea tales. That sense of rebellion, of flipping the script, is baked into every bottle.
And now, that rebel spirit is part of the Hard Rock vibe, giving locals and visitors alike a chance to sip something thoughtful, meaningful, and ridiculously good. So, meet you at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino for a sip of Mutiny neat or as part of a refreshing cocktail?
