If this is not magical, we don’t know what is! Once we stepped into Magic 13, we knew we were in for a different type of experience versus other breweries. The welcoming environment not only had patrons celebrating birthdays, spending time with their family, and chatting away on the impressive outdoor patio with eye-catching wooden lawn chairs.
Not only that, but the place also felt homey. Located in a place where you can kick back and relax with your people, the unique spot is in the newly minted Magic Innovation District, a perfect location for those seeking something different for a weekend or weekday. And not only are the spirits delightful, but we recommend staying for the live music at night, where local bands pick things up, as revelers dance all evening, with a cocktail or delicious cold beer in their hands, of course!
Our experience at Magic 13 was lovely, full of attentive and kind servers. We recommend starting the night with a flight of their current spirits. These include a rum, vodka, and whiskey, that taste lovely simply neat on a glass, or even with a little ice rock to cool things off a bit. One of our favorites was the delicious wheat-based whiskey. If you think that sounds unique, it’s because it is. The whiskey goes down smoothly and is even great on its own with a big ice rock. The vodka tastes much better than many on the current market. And the rum that’s been aged for four years is also a treat, one that offers a bold flavor that you will love, seemingly with hints of vanilla and a bit of sweetness. The spirits are the types that make you want to come back and recommend to friends ASAP.
It's the spirits that make the cocktails, also, magical. Priced at $15 each, they are the types of cocktails that you would not really find elsewhere when it comes to flavor. You can tell that the employees care about visitors and take care with creating cocktails that impress. Some delicious options include Lemon City, a delicious mix of whiskey, vermouth, and bourbon. Then there’s the refreshing vodka-based Miami Heat, a mix of flavors featuring mango pinche flavored habanero vodka, lime, and the perfect spicy salt rim. Lastly, please also try the rum-based drink known as Little Haiti, with rum, lime, coke, angostura, and lime. You won’t regret any of these, trust me!
As for the beers, you can taste the love and care behind the brewing process. My favorite was the refreshing Islander, a soft and light lager, perfect for hot summer days. With a well-curated selection of brews, you can also take a six-pack of most of them home. Don’t forget to pair with an appetizer, such as the truffle and Parmesan fries, as well as the charcuterie board with worldwide cheeses and meats. They are big portions, so come ready to share!
