Sometimes the best plans are the ones made at the last minute.

For me, due to a tight deadline and last-minute changes, I was so happy to have had the chance to finally enjoy Prezzo’s location in Boca Raton, and sooner than expected based on my calendar of upcoming stories.

And boy, was I excited and eager to arrive there! As a journalist constantly navigating tight deadlines, as well as my career as an educator, my schedule at times makes it hard to enjoy spontaneous afternoons or evenings.

Visiting Prezzo also was the perfect chance to celebrate my close friend Marissa’s belated birthday.

We had been meaning to catch up, and Prezzo in Boca Raton, an iconic name in South Florida’s Italian dining scene, and was the perfect setting to celebrate at. She had to be my plus one!

The visit set the stage for a much-needed afternoon of indulgence before we both returned to our busy lives, and it gave us a catch to savor the moment at a great Italian spot.

A fun fact: Marissa comes from an Italian background, so I trusted her knowledge throughout our fun happy hour experience!

A Taste of Tradition

Walking into Prezzo felt like stepping into a space where history and modern charm blended seamlessly.

Since 1989, the restaurant has been known for pioneering South Florida’s first wood-fired pizza oven, and that legacy was alive and well.

The scent of sizzling dough, bubbling cheese, and aromatic herbs filled the air, creating a sensory experience that instantly transported us to a calm space.

The open kitchen, with its centerpiece wood-burning oven, showcased the craftsmanship behind each dish, and the homey feeling of the restaurant really proves why Prezzo remains a local favorite in the South Florida scene.

We settled at bar, the perfect spot to take advantage of their unbeatable Happy Hour specials.

The location was perfect for us to sit at, especially on a day with perfect breezy weather that permitted us to take it all in, as we watched patrons enjoy the outside bar adjacent couches alongside the open-air side of the elegant bar.

The friendly bartender greeted us warmly, and as soon as Marissa arrived after an errand, we scanned the menu, eager to dive into some yummy food and drinks.

Cocktails, Cuisine, and Connection

Every celebration deserves a toast, so we started with cocktails.

I opted for a lemon drop-style martini, a bright, citrusy, and refreshing concoction. Marissa chose an espresso martini, one of her go-to drinks. The drinks were balanced and refreshing, and we were happy with our choices and ready to enjoy some signature food items.

As we chatted about our day and current happenings, our selected food arrived, and it was nothing short of delicious. The burrata, creamy and drizzled with olive oil, paired beautifully with crisp crostini. The prosciutto pizza, a testament to Prezzo’s legacy, featured a perfectly charred crust topped with delicate slices of prosciutto, a hint of arugula, and just the right amount of cheese to bring it all together.

I highly recommend this pizza, one that also has a touch of sweetness. It was one of the most unique ones on their menu, and we fully understood why Prezzo likes to keep things inventive and fun when it comes to their food, as well as their drinks.

To mark the occasion of us getting together, and celebrating her belated birthday, we ended the happy hour experience with a celebratory toast. For this, we selected a glass of Moët & Chandon Champagne, an effervescent and crisp bubbly that’s one of my all-time favorites.

This selection is another highlight of the happy hour menu, and one that is offered at a great price, giving visitors a chance to enjoy a little luxury in a glass.

Savoring the Experience

As teachers in Boca Raton, we realize that sometimes it’s important to remember to slow down and take a break from the day.

Sometimes the perfect way to do it is by enjoying a happy hour, indulging in great food, and simply finding a moment to catch up and relax.

Prezzo, with its rich history, dedication to quality, and welcoming atmosphere, provided more than just a meal. It gave us an experience to treasure thanks to the well-selected menu items, exceptional service and those yummy cocktails will not be forgotten.

I recommend this experience to everyone that wants to take the time for a happy hour filled with signature items at a great price in an elegant environment that also feels laid-back. And relaxing is the key word for that day that you decide to visit and take a little moment for yourself as well.

And in a world that moves far too fast, that is something truly worth savoring.
