There’s something so satisfying about finding restaurants that check all the boxes. And these are delicious food, a welcoming atmosphere, and a menu full of variety.
During my recent food adventures in South Florida, I had the chance to try two fast-casual spots that completely won me over: UDON Asian Food and LIME Fresh Mexican Grill.
Each offers its own take on flavorful global cuisine, and both are proof that fast-casual dining doesn’t have to mean cutting corners.
Whether you’re shopping at the mall or just looking for a fun new place to eat with friends, these restaurants bring something special to the table.
UDON Asian Food: Where Tradition Meets Fresh, Modern Flavor
Tucked into the Treats Food Hall at Aventura Mall, UDON Asian Food brings Japanese comfort food to life in a way that feels both timeless and totally current.
I tried the Corral Chicken Yakisoba during my visit, and not only was it packed with flavor, but the textures and freshness really stood out. Their menu is filled with noodle dishes, tapas, rice bowls, and plant-based options, and they are all made with organic and locally sourced ingredients when possible.
The restaurant also offers some delicious sushi rolls. I’m a huge fan of Spicy Tuna rolls, and the restaurant’s fresh and delicious one left me impressed. With sushi, it’s imperative that we are served something truly fresh and well-prepared, and they did it just right.
I loved that the restaurant felt modern yet rooted in tradition, with a minimalist design and even some local Miami street art to tie in the vibe, and that its location at the mall’s food hall makes it accessible to those who want a quick and delicious meal after a day of shopping or during a busy day spent browsing shops where you simply need a break to eat.
I, for example, took the time to read a book at one of their tables while enjoying my meal, and the refreshing Kirin Ichiban beer, which is one of my favorites.
It’s exciting to have a place like UDON here in Florida, especially as they continue to grow from their first Wynwood location. This isn’t just a spot you try once; it’s one that you’ll crave again.
From the warm service to the thoughtfulness behind every dish, UDON is clearly here to stay, and I’m thrilled to see more locations planned. It’s a win for anyone looking for food that’s both healthy and satisfying.
It’s a spot that I promise you you’ll be happy to visit again and again on those spur of the moment shopping days.
UDON's Aventura location is fast casual, but the Wynwood location is a full-service restaurant.

LIME Fresh Mexican Grill: Bold Bites and a Whole Lot of Personality
As soon as I stepped into LIME Fresh Mexican Grill, at its location in Plantation, I knew it wasn’t your typical taco joint.
It never has been, and that’s what makes it stand out from other Mexican food inspired spots.
The colors, music, and energy instantly made my husband, friends and I smile. And then, I saw the new menu after being treated to some snacks before dinner, and we realized that it was time to eat something yummy.
LIME keeps things fresh (literally), with no freezers or microwaves, and you can taste the difference.
I had the Vegetarian Quesadilla with portobello mushrooms, black beans, and their addictive tomatillo ranch, and it was pure comfort food with a kick.
I also got a bite of their award-winning Mahi Mahi Tacos, and wow, the mint and pickled red cabbage added such a unique twist.
Every bite felt thoughtful, fresh, and fun. And, as we tried other dishes that night, such as their signature tacos and nachos, we knew we’d be coming back for more in the future, especially in an area so close to our homes. And, with all their different locations, there might just be one close to you as well.
We felt very lucky, my husband and my friends to have been invited to sample the new menu. And all of us left impressed with it and happily full.
From inventive drinks, such as yummy frozen margaritas, and delicious cold beer, LIME also gives those who dine there a chance to add a little something extra to drink with their meal.
With locations all over Florida, from Miami-Dade to Orlando, LIME is clearly doing something right, and each location keeps the spirit of LIME alive with at times different offerings, such as a full bar at the Orlando location.
My visit reminded me why this place continues to thrive after almost two decades. It’s not just about the food (though that alone is worth the trip); it’s about the vibe. It’s upbeat, laid-back, and welcoming to all.
Whether you’re in the mood for nachos, salads, tacos, or something sizzling and dramatic like the Bim Bim Fajitas, LIME offers a little something for everyone.
And in a state like ours that loves flavor and flair, I have no doubt LIME will remain a fan favorite for years to come.
