When I first heard about D’s Sports Bar, I imagined your usual game-day haunt: loud, casual, and beer-soaked. Yet, as I did some further research, and when I was invited to check it out, I realized that this is not your usual sports bar.

Also, I’m not huge into sporting events, unless it’s the World Cup, Florida Panthers or a Miami Heat game.

Ok, I am, but if I’m going somewhere to watch a game with buddies, something that I rarely do, I’d love to do it somewhere different.

To my relief, maybe I found a place that is great for a chill evening watching a game, or even just to have some great food. And, I really think many will enjoy D’s, and find it to be a breath of fresh air in the sports bar world.

D’s blends the high-energy charm of sports fandom with an upscale, lounge-like atmosphere that’s just as perfect for sipping handcrafted cocktails as it is for cheering on your favorite team.

Sophisticated Bites & Classy Game Food

While there, I was a bit overwhelmed by the menu. So, I decided to snack on a few different things to tell you all about it.

You might want to do the same when you decide to visit. There’s a lot to choose from, and this is a fantastic thing.

The Wagyu steak frites and loaded nachos were my favorite. And the bartender and server were very attentive and made me the most delicious Cosmopolitan, which is my favorite drink. It was so fun to enjoy upscale bites and a drink in a spot that also feels relaxing.

The menu at D’s is led by Thomas Angelo, his daughter Kassidy, and Culinary Director Danny Ganem. You get comfort food favorites like mozzarella sticks and burgers, but made with premium, locally sourced ingredients.

And yes, the desserts live up to the hype. We split a Brownie Sundae, and it was a sweet ending to your experience.

Drinks to Satisfy all Taste Buds

Now, let’s talk about the cocktails. At D’s, the drink menu is just as curated and classy as the food. Back in the day, yet not so long ago, I was the cocktail columnist at The Miami Herald. I can truly tell you that writing about cocktails is one of my favorite things, and it’s so fun to see a restaurant with a nice and balanced menu.

The menu includes classics such as a Smoked Old Fashioned, which is brought to the table like a smoky little showpiece, and includes the Eastside Gimlet, a citrusy, herby mix that tasted like vacation in a glass.

For beer lovers, there’s a strong lineup of drafts from South Florida favorites like Gulfstream Brewing Company and Funky Buddha, plus crisp local seltzers that are perfect for those who seek something a little traditional and refreshing during their visit.

Chic Décor and the Option of Hosting Private Events

Walking into D’s, you immediately notice that this isn’t your typical sports bar environment.

Housed in a transformed 1950s garage, the space strikes a flawless balance between cozy and luxurious.

There are plush emerald booths, rich wood accents all around, a marble bar, and 12 big screens that are somehow integrated so seamlessly that you won’t even notice them until the games are on, and it’s time to watch.

There’s also something about the dim lighting and soft golden glow that makes D’s feel like a trendy cocktail lounge.

While there, you’ll realize that having a conversation with friends is easier, because you can hear yourself between touchdowns. Still, when South Florida teams are playing, the energy is electric, there’s not a bad seat in the house, and you’ll have fun just relaxing while nibbling and sipping on something nice.

The Florida Legends Room, an exclusive space for up to 40 guests decked out with memorabilia from icons like Lionel Messi, Jason Taylor, and Jeff Conine offers a great spot for those planning a private event.

The roomy environment is great for planning something special, but it also feels intimate enough for any type of event hosted.

It’s More Than Just a Bar

Whether you’re there for the game or just the good vibes, D’s is the kind of place that invites you to relax, indulge, and feel a little fancy while doing it. It’s the best of both worlds.

If you’re looking for somewhere to unwind with friends, enjoy top-tier cuisine, or simply catch the game in style, put D’s Sports Bar on your list. I recommend visiting with good friends. All of the groups that I saw there that Thursday afternoon were seemingly having a blast together.

As for me, I’m hoping that you’ll find me there again soon. There’s too much to try out still, and I am left eager to come back to check out some cocktails and food. That’s how cool the spot is!
