On Sunday, June 14, 2026, at 6 p.m., Saint Mark’s Church in Oakland Park will host a special Choral Evensong to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Full Inclusion in the Episcopal Church. This landmark event marks five decades of commitment to welcoming all people into the church’s life and ministry, regardless of background, identity, or orientation. The service promises to be a joyous occasion, blending sacred music and community spirit to honor the church’s legacy of inclusivity.
This evening will also spotlight two significant milestones for Saint Mark’s music ministry. The church is delighted to unveil its newly installed Rodgers Infinity organ, a state-of-the-art instrument that will enrich worship services for years to come. The new organ will be featured prominently in the Choral Evensong, providing vibrant accompaniment to the choir and congregation.
The event will also celebrate the arrival of David Macfarlane, Saint Mark’s brand new organist and choirmaster, alongside Jeff Donahue, assistant organist and choirmaster. David’s fresh energy and vision are already inspiring the music program, while Jeff’s ongoing dedication continues to foster a welcoming environment where musical excellence and diversity thrive. Together, they ensure that Saint Mark’s remains a beacon of artistry and inclusion in the South Florida community.
All proceeds from the Choral Evensong will directly support Saint Mark’s music program and The South Florida Pride Youth Band. The Pride Band, which practices at Saint Mark’s, serves as a safe and affirming space for LGBTQ+ youth to express themselves through music and build lasting friendships.
Join us for an unforgettable evening of music, celebration, and fellowship as Saint Mark’s honors its past, embraces its present, and looks forward to a future where everyone is welcome.
