"Things We Never Got Over" by Lucy Score.

When it comes to author Lucy Score, fans of romance novels can expect books full of relatable characters, fun banter and a lot of swoony moments.

Recently, I had the chance to chat with Score about her upcoming project and her experience as a writer. The former educator, Score has a distinct and bubbly personality, and you can tell that she loves her career as a writer and her fans. And, as an educator myself, I related to her as a passionate person when it comes to her craft.

“It makes me so happy to know that someone has been affected by one of my stories,” said Score. “As an author, you always hope that people will even read your books. To have them enjoy them so much is the best compliment.”

Many of these are mixed in with realistic issues that characters, and many of us, face. And thanks to this, Score’s novel "Things We Never Got Over" has been selected by Amazon to create a television series based on the best-selling book.

Score’s novel doesn’t only capture readers with its story, but also the characters. These are the type of characters that will make them feel like they are right there inside their world and small town, going on their journey alongside them.

Published in 2012, the romance novel focuses on the characters of Knox, a grumpy and handsome man that finds peace in being alone, and the bubbly runaway bride that comes into his life called Naomi.

His companion and best friend, a basset hound, Waylon, are all that he feels that he needs to be happy. But with the appearance of Naomi, Knox’s life is turned upside down, especially with her being the twin of his ex-girlfriend.

Set in the small town of Knockemout, Virginia, the book is a fun romp that readers will engage with. With a story like this, it’s no surprise that it’ll also be an on-screen hit.

Score commented that she was floored and happy when she found out the news, and that she’s eager to see the result of the book turned into an on-screen project.

“I cannot wait for readers to see the characters on screen,” she mentioned.
