Creativity, culture, and meaningful family moments sit at the heart of Pinta Party Kits, a bilingual brand bringing hands-on artistic fun to celebrations big and small.
Inspired by motherhood, Disney magic, and the joy of creating together, founder Sarah Morrison shares the story behind the business, the late-night creative sparks, the lessons learned through trial and error, and the dreams she hopes to bring to life for families everywhere.
The Origin Story
What inspired you to start Pinta Party Kits?
My inspiration comes from my daughter. She loves to craft and explore new forms of art, and her creativity sparked the idea that I could share the same artful joy we experience at home with other families. As a bilingual Spanish-speaking family, creating Pinta Party Kits as a bilingual brand was also incredibly important to me. I want my daughter to grow up surrounded by a sense of culture, community, and creativity while helping other families feel seen and included, too.
I draw inspiration from birthday parties, holidays, Disney magic, my daughter’s interests, and even color palettes that simply spark happiness. My creative process usually begins with imagining a feeling first: What would make this feel magical or memorable for someone? From there, I build each theme around molds, custom paint palettes, fun packaging, and thoughtful little details that make the experience feel extra special.
Honestly, some of my best ideas happen late at night while I’m crafting or brainstorming ways to make party favors feel more meaningful, interactive, and memorable.
The Idea Generator
Where do you find inspiration for new themes and creations?
My inspiration always circles back to my daughter and the creativity we share at home. She loves crafting and learning new forms of art, and that joy pushed me to imagine how I could spread similar experiences to other families.
Ideas come from birthday parties, holidays, Disney magic, my daughter’s interests, and even color palettes that spark joy. My process usually begins with a feeling: What would make this magical or unforgettable for someone? From there, I build themes through molds, custom paint palettes, playful packaging, and tiny details that make each kit feel thoughtful and unique.
Sometimes, the best ideas appear unexpectedly while I’m crafting late at night or thinking about how to make party favors feel more meaningful and memorable.
The Creative Chaos
What has been one of your funniest or most memorable creative mishaps?
One of the funniest prototype fails happened when I was first testing plaster mixtures and completely underestimated how quickly plaster sets. As a newbie, I had no idea what ratios I truly needed — and, honestly, the packaging was not helpful! Within minutes, the plaster started setting before I could even complete my first pour.
There has been plenty of trial and error behind the scenes, but those chaotic moments are part of what makes building a handmade business so memorable. Every mishap turns into a lesson and usually a funny story later.
Looking Ahead
What are your dreams for the future of Pinta Party Kits?
One dream I would absolutely love to bring to life is a full Pinta Party Experience, with beautifully curated themed party stations where kids can paint, decorate, and personalize projects during events.
I would also love to expand into seasonal and collectible kits, larger themed boxes with matching party décor, and custom packaging. I recently launched my website, pintapartykits.com, and I am so excited about the possibility of mailing out my creations to families ready to get painting.
My biggest goal is for Pinta Party Kits to become something families associate with joyful memories, creativity, and celebrating life’s little moments together.
